As well as model railways, I am actively involved with preservation and own an ex Cannock & Rugeley Colliery Railway Brake Van.
The early history of the van is not fully known, but, from similarly constructed vehicles, it appears to have been built around the late 1890s to early 1900s. Quite possibly built at the railways own works.
It moved to Granville Colliery in Telford in the 1960s as part of the NCB fleet and was used there for transporting trains from the colliery itself to the BR interchange at Donnington.
During the 1980s it moved to Telford Steam Railway, in private ownership. I acquired it in the early 2000s.
Since then significant restoration has taken place, with more to come.
